My Saguaro Teacher
Lean back!
The iconic Saguaro cactus is my favorite plant. Tall, tapered, mighty, majestic, fierce, flowering, phallic, feminine, and fun. It’s got everything you could ever want in a plant (and more!) rolled into one succulent specimen. I hug them sometimes, even though I know I shouldn’t.
I like to spot the first Saguaro when I’m driving into the Sonoran desert from the north.
Once you spot the first one, it suddenly goes from no ‘guaro, to ‘guaro ‘guaro ‘guaro ‘guaro ‘guaro everywhere.
I recently drove into the Sonoran from the north. When I reunited with my Saguaro friends, I got the vibe that they see each other as the same organism. Different, but the same.
I sensed that they talk to each other across vast distances through a spiritual network that has biological parts to it.
It hit me that the human and Saguaro tribes share a nature.
Saguaro family
Hug it out
It’s complicated
Climate change is doing a number on my friends
Lovers’ quarrel
Artsy crowd
Is that a ‘guaro, or are you just happy to see me?
I love my Saguaro friends so much
